The Explorer Dream, part of Dream Cruises, left Keelung on Friday for a two-night round-trip cruise to Hualien County, eastern Taiwan, to celebrate the arrival of the New Year, the first navigation of the ship since May.
Prior to boarding, all passengers were required to have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 for at least 14 days and also had to provide a negative COVID-19 PCR test result with a test sample taken 48 hours prior to the departure date.
Explorer Dream also has a professional medical team consisting of a doctor and five other staff on board, with support from 26 hospitals under the Ministry of Health, Keelung Hospital said in a statement. .

The Explorer Dream, one of the first cruise ships to resume service in Taiwan, has not yet recorded any incidents related to COVID-19, according to Cruise Industry News Quarterly Magazine.
More than 90,000 guests sailed the Explorer Dream between July 2020 and May 2021, according to data from Cruise Industry News Quarterly.
