Bismarck artists paint mural inside new Heavens Helpers ministry center

BISMARCK, ND (KFYR) – Heavens Helpers Soup Café continues to expand and offer more services to people in the community.

The latest addition is a new ministry center.

The good news is on the walls where you’ll see a one-of-a-kind piece of art.

Alicia Broxmeyer and Shannon Wirrenga still can’t believe they created this: a fresco inspired by a Bible verse.

“There is a verse in Matthew about the narrow gate and the wide gate,” Wirrenga explained.

He quickly grew to three walls full of worms.

“When you see it, you feel like looking up and pulling out the Bible and looking up the scripture references to see what the deeper meaning is,” Broxmeyer said.

It took about four months from start to finish. They photographed their progress, from blank walls to sketches and trips in the elevator to paint the top of the fresco.

“I remember I was so scared in that elevator! Broxmeyer admitted.

It’s unlike anything they imagined they could create.

“This is the whole process of faith,” Wirrenga said.

Heavens Helpers Soup Café Executive Director Mark Meier hopes this art can help people choose the right path.

“They could be on this wide road that leads to destruction, and realize you know what, I can change some things so maybe I can stop doing what always got me in trouble and go this narrow road. “, he explained.

“I hope people will be encouraged in their faith and draw them to the Lord and uplift them somehow,” Wirrenga added.

And may the writing on these walls help those who need it most.
