A hypnotherapy-trained BRADFORD driving instructor puts people in the “right frame of mind” so they can pass their driving test the first time around and avoid the long wait of having to book another.
While learner drivers currently have to wait until 2022 to book a driving test at one of Bradford’s two test centers, Javez Khan, a qualified hypnotherapist who runs the company Hypno Driving, aims to prepare his students for “100% so that they can achieve perfection. “.
Mr Khan, who has been a driving school instructor since 2010, studied psychology and wanted to know why people fail their driving tests.
He said: “Why do professionals who are doing well in all other aspects of life start to sweat and get so nervous when getting behind the wheel of a car? That’s where the journey began. ”
Instead of scenic hypnotherapy, Mr. Khan uses neurolinguistic programming, hypnotherapy and accelerated learning techniques.
He said: “When you are in the right frame of mind, anything is possible.
“It’s about making people feel comfortable and making them feel more comfortable.
“We were gaining a rapport with people and they were gaining a rapport with themselves.
“This is a real problem for people who have failed their driving test multiple times.
“People can get very nervous about driving, so we have to work with them.
“People can have different feelings when they get behind the wheel of a car.
“Drivers need to be confident and calm, so it’s about finding out what makes them feel confident, calm and happy. Confidence leads to safer drivers.
“When we were in confinement, there was no training and no driving test took place.
“People then had to find the time and spend more money to catch up on what they had learned before.”
He also said getting out of lockdown and getting a booked driving test in the near future has proven difficult.
Mr Khan, 52, from Manningham, said: “There is still a bit of a wait for the availability of driving tests. Bradford is full until 2022.”
This creates more urgency for people to take their driving test the first time.
“That’s why we work with people to make sure they’re 100% ready, so they can achieve perfection.”
And Mr Khan recently asked one of his students to have one of his students perform this feat – a perfect score on the test without a single minor or major fault, a rare achievement.
“It was a clean sheet, an A ** result,” Khan said. “Less than one percent of learner drivers do it. ”
