‘Change your thoughts, change your life’

Vulnerable people have a powerful ally in the Chatsworth-based NGO, the Community Self Mastery Coaching Institute, which provides valuable training to disadvantaged children, youth, women and men with self-mastery tools. They help equip them with techniques and skills so that they can lead happy, productive and healthy lives.

Founder, CEO and Senior Coach, Denise Anthony, identified the institute’s need through her private life coaching practice. She is an internationally accredited social worker and master transformation life coach and a practitioner in neuro-linguistic programming (NLP). NLP is a model of how our thoughts, words and actions work together to produce results. The negative produces the negative. The positive produces the positive.

Her message to victims and survivors of gender-based violence is: “No matter how badly you have been treated, or the insulting names you have been called, or how worthless you have felt, remember – you know it wasn’t about your short – but rather about the hurt, pain, fear or anger of the other person. Hurt people hurt people. You have total power over your mind. Own. No one can control what you think and believe about yourself. So, while it may not always be easy, always remind yourself of your own worth by saying to yourself these words, “I’m good enough. I deserve a good life. I am special, I am worthy. When people learn to use their own minds constructively, let go of unresolved negative feelings, and reframe limiting beliefs they have about themselves, they are better equipped to break free from emotional pain such as pain. , sadness, fear, anger, rejection, and feelings of worthlessness, ”she said. She said the key to this process is for the individual to have the practical transformative tools and techniques to use to bring about and sustain change within themselves.

“Once people begin the journey from self-mastery to mastery over life, they start to experience more positive feelings, a constructive mindset, self-confidence, self-esteem and increased self-esteem and healthier relationships with others. The benefits are evident in all aspects of their life. I increasingly felt the need to make this type of transformational life coaching service accessible to vulnerable and disadvantaged people, who would otherwise not have been able to afford such life-changing interventions, ”he said. she explains.

The Community Self Mastery Coaching Institute was established in September 2020 and in its first year focused on children from vulnerable and compromised homes, as well as abused women and their children. Flagship programs are in collaboration with the Malvern Child and Youth Care Center and two shelters for abused women and their children, The Sahara, run by the Phoenix Child Welfare Society, and the Kenilworth Respite Center. Transformational self-mastery life coaching workshops are held regularly at these institutions.

“We empower women victims and survivors of gender-based violence and help them regain their self-esteem, self-esteem, self-confidence, self-esteem and adopt a mindset of success, their allowing to be more independent. We aim to disrupt the cycle of violence by enabling women to take care of themselves and their children, free from their situations of violence. We started operating without seed funding and were fortunate to receive donations from individuals. After a year of testing, revising and strengthening our model, we are ready to offer more frequent self-control workshops with existing beneficiaries and to expand our services to more beneficiaries, which we will do as we go. let’s get sustainable funds, ”she continued.
