It is a registered non-profit charitable organization providing a range of accessible services to the community to aid in healing, which includes group workshops, classes and sessions which are all led by qualified professionals. .

The idea for the center arose out of a combination of the personal experience of the charity’s five administrators within the mental health system and their work as therapists working in the mental health field.

Marion Weeks, Administrator and Chair of the Crawley Mindfulness Center, said: “We believe there is a gap in the mental health support available to the community; it is either available for those in crisis or for those who are able to afford private support financially, but there is not much for those who cannot afford complementary therapies but have Need help.

“Complementary therapies are available, however, when people are at the point of crisis in mental health hospitals or in many end-of-life care hospices, we wondered why these valuable therapies are not available for the rest of the world. the community except privately at high costs, so we decided we wanted to bring these valuable healing methods to our community.

“Our goal is not to replace professional therapy, but to educate, explore and encourage mental wellness.

“In all cultures before ours, healing was accomplished by moving energy and connection into community. There is a lot of science behind mindfulness, meditation, and complementary therapies, we cannot separate mind and body.

The Crawley Mindfulness Center, which was only formed in January, has already been nominated for the 2021 National Mental Health and Wellbeing Awards.

The association offers free online courses every day of the week, varying in content, and will soon be launching new face-to-face sessions.

The charity also hopes to begin its hypnotherapy course for anxiety relief, as well as its monthly women and men circles.

Marion added, “We have a fantastic team of professionals who dedicate their time and attention to providing excellent service that reflects our philosophy and goals.

“One of our main goals is to create a community of resources where we, as a community, come together and share.

“We are extremely grateful for the funding and support we have received from our sponsors, some of which include the National Lottery, Crawley Borough Council and the Sussex Community Foundation.”
