Defense Ministry appoints VS Pathania as Coast Guard ADG

New Delhi [India], Sep 25 (ANI): The Defense Ministry has appointed Virender Singh Pathania as additional director general of the Indian Coast Guard Headquarters in the nation’s capital.

The order to detach Pathania was issued by the government on Friday and he will take up his post on September 30.

The post had been vacant for months after the previous officer retired prematurely months before his retirement.

Pathania was until now in charge of the east coast of the force in Vizag.

He has served the organization in various assignments over the past three and a half decades.

He also served as Deputy Director General Policy and Planning at ICG Headquarters in New Delhi. He has also held several key positions both afloat and ashore, including the Coast Guard Region Commander (Northwest) and Coast Guard Region Commander (West).

A former student of the Defense Services Staff College in Wellington and the National Defense College in New Delhi, the General Officer is a qualified helicopter pilot.

In addition, he also holds a Masters in Defense and Strategic Studies from the University of Madras. Pathania also specializes in search and rescue and US Coast Guard port operations.

The General Officer is a recipient of the President’s Tatrakshak Medal for Distinguished Service, the Tatrakshak Medal for Bravery Service and has also received the Chief Executive Officer Commendation of the Indian Coast Guard. (ANI)
