Durrington Salon Wins Gold in Two British Hair and Beauty Awards

A Durrington salon that opened in the midst of the pandemic won two regional awards.

B-Unique Beauty and Aesthetics on Bulford Road was named Entrepreneur of the Year and Best New Business of the Year 2021.

The company received gold trophies after winning the South East categories at the national British Hair and Beauty Awards.

Jamie-Lee Jones, 35, set up the show in July last year “to give support to the local community and help support others.”

The salon is unique in that it offers low cost babysitting services as needed.

Amesbury’s mother of three said it was her own experiences that gave her the idea.

She said: “I was a single mother and I was so limited – there is nothing you can do because you have kids, unless you enroll in a nursery.

“But with nurseries you have to pay even if your kids don’t go, and a lot of moms don’t have that money. We give them only one stop, where they can use the nursery once or as regularly as they want. they need it. ”

The salon provides childcare for people whether they stay on site for beauty treatments or anything else the salon offers, or leave the site.

It is run by qualified childcare professionals, DBS-vetted and trained in first aid, and can be booked by phone or by messaging on the company page.

The price, currently being updated, will be £ 2.50 per hour per child when a parent is on site, and £ 5 per hour per child off site.

In addition to offering babysitting services and the usual range of health and beauty services, B-unique offers hypnotherapy, fitness classes, treatment packages and after tea experiences. -midday.

Jamie-Lee added, “We partner with other companies to deliver unique experiences that no other salon offers, so we support as many people as possible.

“Especially in the Covid situation, a lot of people have mental health issues and it just gives them that support.

“Getting people out of the house with fitness and babysitting classes gives them the opportunity to be themselves again.”
