Ancient ring, the upcoming Fromsoftware game, aims to give gamers an open world on the Dark souls formula. Having recently shown a fair amount of gameplay in their network test, a lot of information regarding the expected game has since come to light. Five predefined classes are available in this test, all featuring different play styles.
Many will find character stats in Ancient ring very similar to those of the Fromsoft’s Dark souls series, with only two renowned. Spirit roughly represents attunement, and leveling it up allows players to cast more spells between breaks. Arcane works similarly to luck but also affects certain sorceries and incantations, the latter of which are similar to miracles in the Dark Souls series.
Compared to previous Fromsoft Souls Games, course in Ancient ring mainly define the equipment and stats with which a character starts. Players wishing a particular style of play can freely adapt their character during the game. Ancient ring Also gives players the power to change a weapon’s scale stat with the use of Ashes of War, allowing for greater versatility in builds.
The five starting classes at Elden Ring
the warrior is the only class currently in Ancient ring which offers dual handling gameplay right from the start of the game. This is the only class to start with two weapons and pressing L1 will allow players to attack with both at the same time. However, the Warrior is very dependent on dodge as he has no way to block damage. Since Warriors start out with the greatest dexterity, they are also good candidates for players looking to build an Archer. Overall, this class is very offensive and rewards an aggressive style of play.
the Bloody wolf is the highest strength class and starts players with heavy armor and a two-handed mongrel greatsword. The high strength allows for a higher gear load, giving the characters good protection while still allowing for decent rolls. As players increase their strength, the Bloody Wolf will continue to increase both damage and defense, as it will allow it to equip heavier loads with less consequence.
the Enchanted knight is the only class of Ancient ring which starts with Witchcraft. In terms of stats, this class starts off with a high Strength and Intelligence score, allowing it to equip heavier armor and weapons without too many penalties. The Enchanted Knight also starts the game with the best shield currently available, making them very strong defensively while still allowing for an effective offensive style of play through the use of sorcery.
the Prophet starts with the highest Faith stat and is the primary user of incantations. This class also sports the highest spirit stat, allowing players to cast the most spells and skills before they run out of focus points. The Prophet begins the game with Beast Claw, one of the strongest spells in the Network Test. However, this class arguably starts out with the worst gear and tends to be very weak in melee due to the lack of weapons and ashes that evolve with Faith.
the Champion is the only other class to start the game with the ability to cast Incantations but start with much less Spirit than the Prophet. This class can only get Beast Claw at the end of the demo, but starts the game with Dragonfire, a very powerful and cool ability that can be channeled like a flamethrower. The champion’s primary physical stat is Strength, which scales well with the Battleaxe it begins with. Players who wish to create a Faith character can consider the Champion rather than the Prophet in Ancient ringNetwork test, because the first begins with a sacred seal (medium to thrown incantations) which adapts better to the faith.
