Training providers often change reward organizations as training provider strategies change, Chrysalis is no different from that. We are constantly examining ways to improve the student journey, whether it’s improving links with internship providers, course delivery, course content or communication, the list is endless. In this case, Chrysalis contacted the Prince’s Trust to determine if it was possible to work with the Prince’s Trust given the amount of positive work the charity is already doing in our communities.
We felt that there was a synergy between the two organizations and that we would be able to work together to make a positive contribution to the profession.
We have been successful in this endeavor and are proud to announce that Chrysalis has become an authorized center for The Prince’s Trust.
There is a growing demand for talking therapists in the UK, it is only increasing. Chrysalis does everything to ensure that our students and graduates have the best opportunity to have a positive impact on society.
When will the change take place?
Chrysalis to lead Prince’s Trust qualifiers from May 1, 2021
After this date, Chrysalis students will study Prince’s Trust qualifications when their next qualification begins, for example if your 2nd year course which is validated with Aim Assessment & Qualifications Group ends in September 2021, your 3rd year qualification will be awarded. by the Prince’s Trust.
All new entrants for Spring 2021 will study the qualifications awarded by The Prince’s Trust
If you are currently studying an Aim qualification, this will continue as normal and the qualification will be awarded once you have successfully completed the qualification.
Didn’t know The Prince’s Trust offered qualifications
The Prince’s Trust became an award body in 2010 and is currently recognized by the relevant qualifications regulators in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland to design, issue and award qualifications. Will I still have a route to an accredited registry?
Yes, all qualifications awarded by the Prince’s Trust will be recognized in the same way as before with routes to the accredited registers of the National Hypnotherapy Society and the National Counseling Society.
Will this affect my qualification?
No, all routes organized by Chrysalis are mapped to the RQF. The level of qualifications will remain the same as will the subject you study.
Chrysalis took the opportunity to review course components and tweak some of the specifications, but these changes are minimal and don’t impact your student journey.
It also allowed Chrysalis to incorporate into the qualification any additional learning material provided during the pandemic, such as the online workshop at the end of the first year, module videos and webinars.
Chrysalis also took the opportunity to add an additional component to each of the years, these components focus on evidence-based practice, the components are as follows: –
Year 1 – Understanding Evidence Based Hypnotherapy
Year 2 – Understanding the practice of evidence-based counseling
Year 3 – Assessing the use of evidence in counseling practice
All of these additional units will be online and will not require you to attend any other modules.
Why will it be compulsory for Chrysalis students to be registered with the Princes Trust?
We are committed to ensuring that our students obtain the best possible qualifications, in order to maximize their future opportunities both professionally and academically. We are happy that our courses are reviewed and validated both professionally and academically. We have an ethical responsibility to provide our students with the best possible results, and registration with a reputable awarding body supports this.
Professional recognition
Our courses are already recognized by the relevant professional bodies, offering pathways to registers accredited by the Professional Standards Authority. These records are increasingly recognized as representing the minimum standard for practice as a hypnotherapist or counselor.
Academic recognition
It is increasingly important for speaking therapists to also have either a nationally recognized university degree, registered on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) administered by Ofqual, or a higher education diploma such as a diploma. Employers, placement providers and clients increasingly seek practitioners whose qualifications are of a particular officially recognized academic level and of a minimum standard in terms of duration and content of training.
Some training providers may describe their course as, for example, “a diploma” or as being at a particular level.
Unless a qualification is awarded by a recognized awarding body, such as the Princes Trust, and listed in the Ofqual Register, or awarded by a higher education provider recognized by the Students Office, such claims do not ‘actually make no sense.
Regulated qualifications must first be reviewed by a certification body – the training provider cannot request that the qualification be registered by Ofqual itself. Prince’s Trust is an Ofqual approved award body with a solid track record, a well-known name with royal connections, and a strong philosophy that complements our own.
Hypnotherapy
To date, Chrysalis’ hypnotherapy course is the only training registered on the RQF framework due to its accredited status with the Hypnotherapy Society.
Advice
Many counseling courses are not officially recognized and may not offer valid pathways to professional and academic recognition. Our Level 5 Princes Trust diploma is accredited by the National Counseling Society for this purpose and is at a higher level than many such training courses.
Professional registers take into account the level of training as well as the experience for their different membership grades, so that proof of an actual level of national qualification carries more weight than a qualification that is claimed to be “equivalent” at this level.
For those who wish to continue their education at a higher university level, universities and other providers will more easily accept current qualifications if they are regulated by Ofqual.
