Josh duggar is currently awaiting his conviction on the child pornography charges against him, and the only question many people ask is his wife, Anna. No one knows exactly how long Duggar will be behind bars, but it will certainly be a long time.
With that in mind, many wonder if Anna will continue to remain married to him with their six, almost seven children. Since his trial, she seems to be by his side. Unlike some siblings, she hasn’t released any statement severing ties with the former reality TV star.
Followers of the family wonder if the reason Anna hasn’t filed for divorce yet has to do with the type of marriage she had with Duggar. Some of the Duggar family are in alliance marriages, so it’s not out of place to assume the couple could be one, too.
What a marriage by marriage means
A marriage by marriage is the same as a typical marriage, except that there are additional conditions that the couple must meet before getting married. It also gives specific requirements for a successful divorce between the couple.
Before their wedding, the couple are expected to attend counseling sessions and sign the documents, all aimed at empathizing with their lifelong commitment to each other. This type of marriage is currently only accepted in three states, one of which is where the Duggar family resides in Arkansas.
Despite the restrictions, some laws could still allow divorce in marriage by marriage. Going through Legal Zoom, a divorce can be recognized if the couple enters into consultation but remains separated for two years. It can also happen if one partner proves that the other adultery or physical or sexual abuse is in the picture.
In addition to this, a spouse can file for divorce if the partner has been convicted of a felony or leaves the marital home and does not return. Upon inspection, Anna could use any number of them to file for divorce if she was truly in a covenant marriage.
Josh and Anna are they married?
Anna met Josh at a conference on home schooling as a teenager and during the first season of “17 Kids And Counting.” The former reality TV star proposed to her on her 18th birthday in June, and they tied the knot shortly thereafter in September 2008.
The marriage was performed at Anna’s house in Florida, and the marriage license was also generated there. Florida is not one of the three states that recognize marriage by marriage, so the couple obtained the regular marriage certificate to signify their union.

Besides them, Josiah and Lauren Duggar, Ben and Jessa Seewald, Austin and Joy-Anna Forsyth, as well as Jeremy and Jinger Vuolo got married in Arkansas. However, none of them mentioned getting a marriage license. Justin Duggar and Claire Spivey were married in Texas, while John David Duggar and Abbey Burnett were married in Oklahoma; the two states do not recognize marriage by marriage.
Anna Knew Josh Sexually Assaulted Girls Before Their Marriage
