To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Judas Priest’s best-selling album, Scream for revenge, Metal Legends have teamed up with Z2 Comics to release an original and epic sci-fi graphic novel and Loudwire has an exclusive first look at a few fine art prints from the Deluxe Edition in addition to the glorious cover of the l standard edition and other art pages.
The new graphic novel will be released in 2022 to coincide with four decades since Priest’s landmark album, which contained lasting hits such as “The Hellion / Electric Eye” and “You’ve Got Another Thing Comin ‘”. And, it’s loaded with other references to the record as well, including the monstrous beast “Hellion” from the original album cover.
A summary of the story provided in a press release states: “In 500 years, a ring of cities will orbit above the surface of a dead world, controlled by a ruling elite that maintains power through manipulation and control. brutality. When an naive engineer inadvertently threatens the status quo with his vital scientific discovery … A BLOOD STONE … he is betrayed by those he trusted and cast onto the shattered planet below. In the wreckage and desolation of a shattered world where every day is a battle for survival, he must choose between accepting his new life in exile… or CRIELING FOR VENGEANCE. “
The Scream for revenge graphic novel found Z2 and Judas Priest teaming up with writers Rantz Hoseley (Cartoon Tattoos, Heroin diaries) and Neil Kleid (Saviour) and artist Christopher Mitten (Hellboy and the BPRD).
“I cannot stress enough how inspiring Judas Priest has been for me, personally,” Hoseley began. “I was already a fan of the band, when Scream for revenge was released, but no one was ready for the impact he had. This incredible cover? These songs ? This album became my daily soundtrack and my creative fuel, to the point that I used up the tape in my car. Being able to contribute to a project inspired by these songs that are so close to my heart? Well, it’s an honor and a responsibility that I take very seriously. “
