Ministry of Health Launches Program to Examine Gaps in District Hospitals

December 20, Colombo: The Ministry of Health has launched a program to examine the shortcomings of hospitals at the district level with the aim of maintaining a more formal and better equipped patient care service.

This program is implemented on the instructions of the Minister of Health Dr Keheliya Rambukwella.

As part of this initiative, the shortcomings of the District General Hospital and the Kantale Base Hospital established in the Trincomalee district of the Eastern Province were recently reviewed under the leadership of the Secretary of the Ministry of Health. , Dr Major General Sanjeewa Munasinghe.

Meanwhile, the Eastern Provincial Council held a meeting to review the progress of 10 hospitals operating in Trincomalee District at the office of the Eastern Provincial Director of Health Services.

The secretary of the health ministry said the health ministry praised the highest level of care provided by the Eastern Province health services to people in quarantine as well as to infected patients from other areas, especially during the Covid epidemic.

Dr Asela Gunawardena, Director General of Health Services, Dr Lal Panapitiya, Deputy Director General of Health Services and the heads of health services from the Eastern Province were also present.
