New Delhi: With an exponential increase in online transactions via mobile phones, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has issued a notice promoting “safe and best practices”.

With the increase in online transactions, the risks of falling into the trap of fraudsters have become a major concern for the end user.

As a preventive measure, the opinion intends to raise awareness among citizens by asking them not to scan any ‘QR’ code shared by anyone, unless the objective is to pay.

“Think before you click on a link, because banks never send links to update KYC. Do not share confidential data like” OTP “,” CVV “,” PIN “with anyone, including including those in charge of the bank, ”the notice said.

The notice also urged citizens not to install a remote access app on their devices.

“Be very careful any time you are asked for an advance or money in any form and verify the credentials of the person or business,” the notice reads.

To prevent potential online fraud, the Center, through the notice, also asked people not to share personal information, such as sensitive phone numbers and bank details, with anyone. .

“Be wise before you share your phone number with strangers,” he added.

He urged people not to store important and sensitive information and passwords on mobile and social media platforms and, if necessary, to use some form of encryption.

“Do not visit suspicious websites such as pornographic, gambling, etc. which could make your phone vulnerable and lead to extortion, financial loss,” he added.

The advisory also urged people to avoid using unfamiliar Wi-Fi networks.

“If connected, do not conduct financial transactions using such networks,” the advisory added.
