To give our readers the tools to improve their mental and physical health in Santa Barbara County, Noozhawk conducted a series of interviews with wellness professionals and local businesses.

In this interview, Noozhawk spoke with Barbra Mousouris, owner of Sixth Scents Healing Center to learn more about his company.

Question: What is the name of your business or practice?

Question: Can you describe the services or products offered by your business or practice?

A: The Sixth Scents Healing Center offers a relaxing and welcoming office with ocean views for your comfort and deep peace. The Board Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist will facilitate the reframing of any lifestyle behavior that no longer serves your greater good, which will be effortlessly replaced on a subconscious level with healthy and happy alternatives. Healing Touch (5-level certified) is available for energy balance and intuitive healing. Therapeutic Aromatherapy Blends can be custom made for clinical applications, for peace of mind, body and spirit! The highest level of client confidentiality is respected. All ages are welcome, including children.

Question: How does your business or practice relate to health and wellness?

A: Sixth Scents Healing Center is a holistic health center. Addictions and unhealthy habits from our past can manifest subconsciously and continue if not dealt with in a nurturing and loving way. Clinical hypnotherapy in a safe space can bring you back to the real You, the joyful essence for which you were created. The energy balance of touch and aromatherapy are also synergistic modalities to release all subconscious blockages that can be self-limiting. Hypnosis has been used successfully since the 1800s.

Problems often discussed include alcoholism and drug addiction, eating problems, pain control, side effects of cancer treatment, relationship / self-esteem issues, phobias / fears of all kinds, sleep disturbances and study / self-esteem difficulties in children.

Question: What makes your business or practice unique?

A: There are places to receive either hypnosis, energy work or essential oil / aromatherapy consultations. The Sixth Scents Healing Center is unusual in that we are trained in the 3 modalities and can combine the multiple and profound benefits of the three healing practices, sometimes simultaneously.

Question: How do you stay in touch with the community and your customers?

A: I am fortunate to continue to have friendships and “tune-up sessions” with my wonderful clients, and I am privileged to be taken in their trust and vulnerability, to their greatest benefit.

I also do hypnotherapy for local sports teams to improve elite athletic performance from a “mind” perspective. I am available to school classes and offices for group hypnosis liaison meetings.

Question: What type of training, education or certification do you have?

A: Trained by Healing Touch International and Healing Beyond Borders in the 5 Healing Touch Energy Balancing Levels.

• Certified Healing Touch practitioner.
• An additional year of in-depth study in essential oil chemistry to become a certified aromatherapist.
• Trained in Los Angeles in advanced clinical hypnotherapy. Board certified by the American Board of Hypnotherapys, recognized by the Mayo Clinic in 1956.
• Intensive training in Los Angeles in the Mongan method of Hypnobirthing.

Question: How does your business or practice help your clients?

A: As a certified childbirth hypnosis educator, it is very rewarding to walk alongside parents of all kinds. Hypnobirth can give parents the knowledge and training to approach childbirth with more relaxation and confidence, leading to the most peaceful childbirth experience possible.

Question: Are your services covered by insurance?

A: Although our office does not accept insurance, some clients may obtain reimbursement coverage from their insurers, for which I am happy to present an invoice.

Question: If you don’t accept insurance, do you offer payment plans or financing options?

A: Sixth Scents Healing Center offers several session packages and accepts Venmo.

Question: How has the COVID-19 pandemic affected your business or practice?

A: I temporarily discontinued the in-person healing touch in 2020. I continued the hypnotherapy on FaceTime and mainly the Zoom meetings, which were extremely effective thankfully. The bonus is that I have been able to work with clients all over the world. My office has been certified for Covid-Safe Disinfection Practices by the County Health Department, and I have now resumed in-person visits to the office.

Question: Is there anything you would like to tell our readers that hasn’t been mentioned above?
