Still Serving Veterans Marks Milestone and Expands Reach to Help More Veterans

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – This month, Still Serving Veterans celebrates 16 years of service.

Retired Major General Paulette Risher describes the mission of the Huntsville-based nonprofit as “helping veterans and members of the Guard and Reserve build meaningful lives; specifically through employment and career transition services, VA benefits from counseling and a connection to essential life resources.

Risher, who is president and CEO, says they take a veteran-to-veteran approach. In 2021, clients of still-serving veterans received $3.3 million in VA benefits. More than 1,050 veterans have found employment and 70 have received assistance with basic living needs. All at no cost to the veteran.

Over the past two years, the organization has expanded its offering to include more virtual training and career counseling sessions, allowing still-serving veterans to now reach clients across the country.

Since veterans are never charged for these services, it is thanks to the generosity of donors and donors. Whether you’re a veteran or someone who wants to support their efforts, you can learn more at SSV.org.

In the meantime, don’t forget the Huntsville Havoc Military Appreciation Night! It arrives on March 19. Still Serving Veterans offers vouchers for military, veterans, Guard and Reserve members. They can be picked up at the SSV office, 626 Clinton Avenue, Suite 200 in Huntsville. Details are available at SSV.org.
