Sumter United Ministries is in need of volunteers for the Lighthouse Grill next week at the Sumter County Fair.

The Lighthouse Grill is held every year at the fair, and although the pandemic has kept it from opening in 2020, the ministry is back this year and ready to serve.

“This is the only fundraiser we do in the ministry, and it’s a lot of fun,” Secretary Kathy Hunter said.

Sumter United Ministries is a faith-based, non-profit organization that provides emergency and life-rebuilding services, such as food, shelter, clothing, a medical clinic, education assistance, and access home heating and renovation projects.

At least six people per shift are required to serve as waiters, waitresses and kitchen staff. The offsets are:

– Wednesday October 20, from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.

– Thursday, October 21, from 4.30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

– Friday October 22 from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.-closing; and

– Saturday 23 Oct. from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Financial donations are also helpful in offsetting the cost of items needed to operate the grill.

If you would like to book a shift for yourself, your church, or your group, contact Hunter at (803) 775-0757.
