The benefits of PAWS for UWT students

PAWS provides mental health services to currently enrolled students.

As a student, it’s more common than you might think to feel overwhelmed by the day-to-day responsibilities of college, work, and family. Psychological and Wellness Services, officially known as CAPS, is something that not all students may be familiar with!

Did you know that as a student you can receive mental health counseling services on campus? PAWS offers confidential, one-on-one and group counseling sessions at no cost to students currently enrolled at the University of Washington.

Services are provided by licensed psychologists, doctoral interns and doctoral interns. PAWS not only provides services to students, but also to faculty, staff and families of university students.

Counseling has many benefits, such as being able to explore your thoughts and worries without judgment, developing coping strategies for different situations, or relieving depression, anxiety, or other health issues. Mental Health. These are just a few of what counseling can offer, but honestly, the possibilities are endless to explore.

If you are a doctoral student pursuing a career in counseling, they also offer two training programs: the Doctoral Internship in Health Services Psychology and the Doctoral Level Pre-Placement, also known as the Program. doctoral internship.

Psychological and Wellness Services mainly provide remote services, as of October 25, 2021. If there are students who do not have the appropriate technology or a private space to speak with a counselor via zoom , they will make exceptions to meet in person. .

PAWS is vscurrently open on campus Monday to Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. They’re in mattress factory 354 on the third floor.
