Tree of Life International Church Offers Alternative Spiritual Approach to African Americans

Veteran pastor says it’s possible to break free from generational curses

FREDERICK, MD / ACCESSWIRE / December 20, 2021 / A 2016 Economic Policy Institute study found that up to one in ten African American students has a parent in prison. One in four has a parent who is or has been in prison. Additionally, an African American child is six times more likely than a white child to have or have had a parent incarcerated.

Incarceration, drug addiction, and domestic violence are seen as generational curses that have plagued many African American families for decades. Children fall into the same destructive patterns as their parents and grandparents, and young lives are often ruined. Hope vanishes and families are trapped in a never-ending cycle of despair.

Many African American families do not seek treatment or counseling because they do not trust traditional mental health programs. Instead, many families seek a faith-based approach and place their trust in their church.

Apostle Clement Mbuyi, senior pastor at Tree of Life Church in Frederick, Maryland, helps African-American individuals and families break generational curses. He lived with generational curses in his own family. Spiritual counseling helped him overcome his emotional pain and find healing and a new way of life.

When Mbuyi was six years old, he was sexually assaulted and later developed persistent health problems. Doctors tried to find the cause of her health problems and were unsuccessful. Mbuyi says the individual spiritual counseling freed him emotionally and physically because he was able to identify the root cause of his problem. He has developed his method of individual counseling and finds it to be more effective than the traditional group strategies that many pastors use in the church setting. Mbuyi says, “I tried the group approach and was frustrated because it often didn’t touch or address the root cause of the problem.

In one-on-one sessions, the root cause of a generational curse is identified by examining the past, including family history, and identifying other family members who have faced the same issues. Mbuyi says, “We discuss a client’s personal life and dreams from childhood to adulthood. Once I identify the root cause of the problem, I create an individualized spiritual prayer and fasting program and guide each client through the process.

Although the power of prayer cannot be scientifically measured, the International Tree of Life Church claims that Mbuyi’s Alternative Method has helped many African American families seek treatment for generational curses.

Mbuyi says, “I have seen many lives transformed and curses broken in the process. I have received many testimonies after praying with individuals or families. I have also seen families integrate my practices into their daily lives for continued benefits and long term health. He adds, “Together, we can break the generational curses that keep so many African American families from experiencing true happiness and fulfillment. We can help millions of people restore their lives and live in true joy and spiritual fulfillment.
