“He was someone who would work hard and push as hard as he could,” Travers said. “Whenever I play or practice I’m just like what Kara would think right now and how would she think about that or if she got it wrong, she would always have a positive attitude and get over it. I just wanna be like her so much, she was just the best person.

Aside from a promising center-tackle on the volleyball court, Wrice was an aspiring model who signed on to Mother Modeling Agency at the age of 14. She was also a straight student.

“Kara has always been such a positive person,” said Katelyn Turley, sophomore student at Webster Groves. “She was very outgoing, she talked to everyone. She was very funny and she always made us laugh no matter what we did. And she was so sweet and always spoke to everyone, and made everyone feel at home. “

Webster Groves assistant coach Mallory Moran said this season’s team has embraced Wrice’s personality.

“She was always in a bright, positive frame of mind the whole time, and the girls really connected to that,” Moran said. “If there was a girl who was feeling down that day, Kara would always make sure to raise them and I think that kind of show in our whole team this year. They all kind of got together and really took that from Kara and made sure that if anyone was feeling down, we lift them up immediately. We have never had a team so connected.
