WVU Faculty and Staff Assistance Program Offers Supportive Tips During Tough Times | E-News

In response to the persistence of the COVID-19 pandemic, WVU’s Faculty and Staff Assistance Program offers both confidential telehealth and in-person appointments to all eligible employees, dependents and retirees to WVU benefits.

FSAP has also expanded its hours of operation to offer evening appointments to help faculty and staff tailor counseling to their busy schedules and access services from their own homes via HIPAA-compliant Zoom. .

Currently, an employee who urgently needs an appointment can be scheduled within 24 to 48 hours, and non-urgent appointments can usually be scheduled within a week.

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed almost every aspect of our daily lives. Lack of predictability in our personal, work and school environments can take a toll on our personal well-being, and many people face aggravating losses from the pandemic.

FSAP provides support resources for employees related to managing stress, anxiety, burnout and work-life balance. Employee assistance professional associations recently published an article on Fast Company titled “Why Returning Employees May Show Signs of PTSD”.

The FSAP does not require the employee to use their insurance benefits. Each employee (and their dependents) is entitled to three free sessions per year with an experienced and licensed behavioral health clinician. FSAP can provide assessments, counseling, referrals and follow-up services to employees who are having difficulty or who may just need a little support to get through this difficult time.
