Zero Covid-19 cases in Cambodia again; Ministry of Health seeks Austrian support in healthcare and non-communicable diseases

PHNOM PENH, May 15 (Phnom Penh Post/ANN): The Ministry of Health reported zero cases of Covid-19 on Sunday, with two recoveries and no new deaths.

As of May 15, Cambodia has recorded a total of 136,262 Covid-19 cases with 133,194 recoveries and 3,056 deaths.

Meanwhile, the Cambodian Ministry of Health asked an Austrian business delegation to support the provision of medical services and the treatment of non-communicable diseases in Cambodia, and encouraged them to invest in medical technology to promote health care. to achieve global universal health coverage. .

The ministry’s state secretary, Or Vandine, made the suggestion during a meeting with the delegation led by Michael Schmeiser, deputy head of mission at the Austrian embassy in Thailand.

Vandine told the delegation that the ministry still supports private companies allowed to invest in the Cambodian health sector, noting that Austrian-made medical products are still restricted in Cambodia.

“She [Vandine] called on Austria to provide medical services and treatment for non-communicable diseases, and encouraged them to invest in medical technology and “digital health” to promote primary health care under a known program under the name of PHC Booster in order to achieve global universal health coverage,” the ministry quoted Vandine in a press release.

Vandine said Cambodia always welcomes beneficial grant projects to promote public health. In terms of subsidized loans, she urged the delegation to have a discussion with the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
