This is just one of nearly 150 nativity scenes that will be on display at the Lutheran Family Service Ministry Center this Sunday as part of their annual Christmas festivities, nativity scenes and food drive.

Nearly 150 nurseries will be on display across three floors of the Lutheran Family Service Ministry Center this Sunday for people to enjoy.

Lutheran Family Service will be hosting their Christmas parties, nurseries and food drive for the seventh year from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at their ministry center, 230 Ninth Ave. NOT.

New this year will be live music from the St. Paul and Good Shepherd Lutheran worship teams. In addition, there will be a live nursery by members of the local youth group.

Visitors are encouraged to bring in food donations for the pantry at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, but a donation will not be required for entry.

“We thought that if we were going to do this as a witness to the neighborhood and the community, we could incorporate something like a food drive with her,” said Holly Eldridge, director of operations.

Today’s most needed items include canned fruits and vegetables, pasta, grains, peanut butter, canned meats, and canned potatoes. Only new, unopened and not expired foods will be accepted.

The event is organized as an opportunity for the community to meet the staff of the Lutheran Family Service and for the staff to share their Christmas spirit with those who visit.

“Our intention is that he be a Christian witness of the neighborhood and of the community” Eldridge said.

Lutheran Family Services began in 1901 as an orphanage and still serves the community today, Eldrige said.

“Currently we offer mental health counseling, adoptions and crisis pregnancy counseling,” she said.

While the event is taking place at the Ministry Center located at 230 Ninth Ave. N., the Lutheran Family Services office is located at 409 Kenyon Road. Suite C.
