The government “implemented a contingency plan to provide public transport services” and “asked licensed minibuses to provide alternate transport”.

Transport Minister Lawrence Scott said: “While the government supports the workers, we must act to deliver the public services we expect as efforts continue to break the current impasse. It has now been nine consecutive days that BIU’s work stoppage has bothered the traveling public.

“These are tough times for everyone, and the added burden of not having transportation adds additional stress and anxiety to those who depend on public bus service.

“To alleviate the inconvenience caused by the withdrawal of the workforce, the ministry asked licensed minibuses to provide an alternative means of transport. This public service is free of charge and will operate hourly from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the main bus lines 1, 3, 7, 8, 10 and 11. All minibuses will operate in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Health for the public. Transport.

“The minibuses will serve the following main bus lines:

  • Route 1 – Hamilton to Grotto Bay
  • Route 3 – Hamilton to Grotto Bay
  • Route 7 – Hamilton to Somerset
  • Route 8 – Hamilton to Somerset
  • Route 10 – Hamilton to St. George’s
  • Route 11 – Hamilton to St. George’s

Additional route:

  • Loop – St. George’s Bus Depot to Great Head Park, St. David’s
  • Loop – From Somerset Bus Depot to Clocktower Mall, Shipyard

Minister Scott concluded: “It is very unfortunate that we are at this point, but nine days after the start of this conflict, we must act to help our residents who depend on public transport go about their daily business.
