The Ministry of Railways has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with C-DOT; will work together for the modernization of telecommunications in Indian Railways

New Delhi: The Ministry of Railways on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Center for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) to establish a strong collaborative working partnership for the coordination and sharing of resources regarding concerns the provision of telecommunication facilities in the delivery and implementation of C-DOT’s telecom solutions and services in the railways.

With this MoU, CDoT and the Ministry of Railways will work together for the modernization of telecommunications in Indian Railways for public safety and security services using LTE-R in line with global standards, 5G use case in Indian Railways under Make in India (MII) policy, Internet of Things (IoT)/Machine to Machine (M2M) applications, Unified Network Management System, Monitoring System/ OFC network management (NMS), video conferencing software (VC DOT), chat application, routers, switches and soon.

The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Shri Rajkumar Upadhyay, Executive Director of C-DOT and Smt. Aruna Singh, Additional Member/Telecommunications/Railway Board, in the presence of other senior executives from both organizations.

The synergy between C-DOT and the Department of Railways will help provide affordable indigenous telecommunications equipment and services for train operations, public safety and security applications by reducing total cost of ownership, boosting the Indian Government’s Make in India initiative and helping to bridge the digital divide in the country.
