Sam McAlister and Nyasha Pitt are both communication experts but will focus on very different aspects of art in their presentations.

The final two speakers, Sam McAlister and Nyasha Pitt at this year’s BMF Young Merchants conference have been unveiled – both communication experts, but will focus on very different aspects of art in their presentations.

McAlister, a former lawyer, turned to journalism after a successful career in criminal law. As a producer of interviews on BBC2’s flagship news program, Newsnight, she used her negotiation skills to build trust and secure one-on-one meetings with world leaders, Silicon Valley CEOs, Hollywood stars and, most famous, HRH Prince Andrew.

McAlister worked closely with the show’s reporters to develop the right questions for these carefully planned feature films – questions that would not meet with rejection or hostility, while still being researched and relevant to audiences. She examines the persuasion, compromise, and empathy needed to build trust, understand who you’re dealing with, and what they’ll be willing to accept.

Pitt is a creative and business communicator with over two decades of experience working both in an agency and in-house, supporting various sectors and industries from Butlins to English Heritage, National Express to The London Taxi Company and Land Securities to Rotherham Metropolitan. Borough Council.

Passionate about creativity, networking, personal development, diversity and inclusion and volunteering, in 2019 Pitt launched iDNetwork, a business network for black professionals. She is a seasoned panelist, energetic and engaging speaker, and accredited practitioner in neuro-linguistic programming.

With the theme “Building the Next Generation”, the BMF Young Merchant Conference is designed to encourage, inspire and excite. Taking place at the NEC in Birmingham on October 6, 2021, the event will be held as part of UK Construction Week and will include a visit to the Build Show on site.
